Description
Characteristics
In Agro di Rapolla, an 80-year-old vineyard, on volcanic land transformed into terraces and surrounded by broom, almond and olive trees, with the enchanting view of Mount Vulture to the west. In front is the intense green of the Croce Plain, and to the south, the gentle Cerro with its wide valley.
The harvest is carried out strictly by hand, at the end of October, and the fermentation takes place in steel at a controlled temperature of 28°C, with aging in 25hl oak barrels for at least 18 months. An ideal wine for long aging. It is a solid and powerful but balanced wine, typical of an Aglianico del Vulture.
A deep ruby red colour with aromas of ripe red berries, spices and notes of liquorice to the nose, while on the palate it is sapid, fresh and lightly tannic when young. It should be served at 18°C and pairs well with red meats, cold cuts, cheeses and local cuisine.
