Description
Characteristics
In Agro di Melfi, three hectares of ancient vineyard, with an average age of 30 years, on mildly clayey soil, rich in volcanic lapillus and ash, and broken up and worked over a long time with love and dedication.
The low production, which is thinned out by the selection of bunches during the harvest, carried out strictly by hand around the end of October, along with thick skins rich in aromatic components, allows this land to create a perfumed, warm, persistent wine.
Aging in 25hl oak barrels for at least 18 months finishes the work, bringing out the fullest expression of decision and elegance for an Aglianico from Basilicata. It is solid and powerful, but balanced, typical of this wine’s character, with the possibility for long aging.
A deep ruby red colour with purple reflections, with aromas of ripe red berries, spices and notes of liquorice to the nose, while on the palate it is sapid, fresh and lightly tannic. It should be served at 18°C and pairs well with red meats, cold cuts, cheeses and local cuisine.
